If your child is having trouble sleeping through the night in their crib, whether it be waking intermittently in the night or from a short nap during the day, it is important to keep calm and keep the room dark. You can try calmly patting their back to soothe them back to sleep or try sitting in a rocking chair (or regular chair if you don’t have one) and rocking them back to sleep can be very effective. Once they fall back asleep, give it at least five more minutes for them to get into a deeper sleep before transferring them to the crib. If you attempt the move too early and they wake up, you will have to start over. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so.
